Dear EPALE members,
Even at the risk of sounding cheesy, this month we want to bring you an important reminder: adult educators make a difference, and their voices deserve to be heard.
In May, Europe Day offers a chance to celebrate not only our shared values, such as inclusion, democracy, and diversity, but also the educators who help bring these values to life every day in classrooms, community centres, and learning spaces across Europe. Moreover, as AI tools become woven into every aspect of our lives, educators hold an especially vital role — navigating complex ethical challenges and ensuring that technology supports learning without compromising fairness or fundamental rights.
Erasmus+ Ambassador Lucia Ielpo shares her own experience of finding a wider sense of meaning in work through the EPALE community, whilst highlighting the importance of including more voices on the platform, particularly those who might typically go unheard. So why not share your story with the EPALE community? It's a chance not just to showcase your work, but to inspire fellow educators and contribute to a richer, more diverse picture of adult learning across Europe.

The ethical use of AI-powered tools for the education and learning of adults

AI isn't just transforming education—it's redefining our relationship with learning itself. As chatbots and generative AI become learning collaborators, both exciting opportunities and ethical minefields emerge. Europe's AI Act addresses these challenges by demanding human oversight, while experts suggest we need more than literacy—we need comprehensive "AI capabilities" to thrive in this new educational frontier.

Adult educators don't just teach - they weave Europe's cherished values of peace, democracy and inclusion into every lesson, creating spaces where diverse voices can thrive and innovation can flourish. As Europe faces today's challenges, these educational heroes are ready to turn policies into life-changing opportunities for millions!
