MULTIPLIER EVENT OF KA210 ERASMUS+ PROGRAM ENTITLED «enhAncing digital SkillS In PriSon EducaTion - ASSIST» AND ID 2023-1-EL01-KA210-ADU-000158469

The Multiplier Event of ASSIST project took place on Thursday 18/7 in the city of Volos and at the premises of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with the participation of more than 20 people from the University of Thessaly, Domokos Prison and the local community of the city of Volos.

The event was held with great success, since the attendees had the opportunity to be informed by the participating groups in the project about the results of the project and mainly to be educated in detail about the material that was developed in 3 European languages (Greek, English, Spanish) and was then taught to a group of adult learners of the 1st Second Chance School of Domokos.

This material was focused and designed for adult prisoners of Domokos Prison, and after the end of the project (in a few days), it will be freely available both on the project results platform, on the EPALE platform, and on the project website (https://assist.e-ce.uth.gr).

The participating educators of the 1st Second Chance School of Domokos, the professors of the University of Thessaly and participants from the University of Almeria (who connected for a long time and presented their own role in the program) bid farewell to the attendees and expressed their hope that this particular project would be the beginning of a larger project in which several inmate trainees from many countries of the European Union would participate.

Mallios Nikolaos

Headteacher of the school

Fantastic to see the impactful results of this crucial project showcased! It's inspiring how the initiative directly strengthens prisoners' abilities in basic computing and programming, equipping them with vital digital skills for the future. Equally important is how it enhances instructors' pedagogical knowledge, ensuring these skills are taught effectively within the prison environment. By successfully introducing a marginalized group to a new digital pathway and fostering a digital culture inside facilities, the project creates genuine opportunities for rehabilitation and future employability. This work is a significant step towards meaningful digital inclusion and empowerment within the justice system.
