Training for Success is an award-winning course for people with epilepsy run in the Institute of Technology, Sligo in partnership with Epilepsy Ireland and funded through SOLAS. It is an accredited Level 4 major Award in Employment Skills and is the only course of its kind in Europe. The purpose of the programme is to facilitate progression to further learning and/or work.

The next course will start on 21 August 2017. Applications are invited.

The programme aims to enable students to:

• Identify a career of their choice

• Set realistic educational and employment goals and plan to achieve them

• Acquire skills and confidence to gain employment

• Learn about the nature and management of epilepsy

• Enhance individual employability

• Promote inclusion in the third level environment

• Target learners are people with epilepsy who may:

         - Have experienced difficulty in school or in choosing a career

         - Have had to change carer as a result of developing epilepsy

         - Have difficulty coming to terms with the diagnosis

         - Need to develop their personal skills; self-image, self-confidence and social skill

     - Epilepsy Management

     - Career Planning

     - Communications

     - Health and Fitness

     - Personal Effectiveness

     - Mathematics

     - Teamwork

     - Understanding Interculturalism

     - Workplace Safety

     - Work Experience

     - Spanish

All eligible students are paid a SOLAS training allowance equivalent to their social welfare payment and an accommodation allowance.
