ForDiL - Project progress

Since 2023, the ForDiL (Forest Digital Learning) project, led by the Royal Forestry Society of Belgium and its European partners (Mendel University, Institut Genech, Institut Technique Horticole de Gembloux, and the Agroforestry Development Center of Chimay), has been rethinking how we learn about Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF).
Its mission?
To enable students, forestry professionals, and experts to learn and improve their skills independently through an innovative digital application.
Where do we stand?
- In 2024, three marteloscopes have been created to practice CCF thinning decisions, and travailloscopes have been established to explore natural regeneration management.
- These educational sites will serve as the foundation for the development of the digital application, planned for 2025.
A Learning Tool for the Future of ForestsWith
ForDiL, future forest managers will be able to practice, experiment, and refine their decision-making in real-life conditions, all within a structured learning framework. This accessible and interactive approach aims to foster a deeper understanding of sustainable forest management through CCF approach.
