ADVANCED TRAINING OF TRAINERS LEVEL 2
Romania

Thursday, March 21, 2024 - 16:00 CET to Monday, April 1, 2024 - 09:00 CEST
Be mindful! The AToT/2 is an exclusive program – this means that since involves a high amount of trust (on both ends: the participants and the facilitators), Outward Bound Romania offers this exquisite training course only to those who have taken part in the AToT/1, or the predecessor of this professionally enhanced program, the ToT Basic. If you are an Outward Bound practitioner anywhere in the world, then this restriction doesn’t apply to you.
The course uses the outdoor environment to offer all sorts of context for the trial of the methods. At the OBR International Youth Center you have the chance to experience the approaches outdoor and indoor and you can prototype and test activities around the methodology according to your own context and your target group. We use a multi-day expedition in order to stimulate a deeper understanding of the functionality and dynamics of these methodologies through a challenging frame of the expedition.
The program is designed to bring awareness to professional sustainability in the work-systems that you are using: the offered methods are there to create support systems through you can optimize your work, create a shared sustainable communication-culture in your professional environment, that brings awareness to things that have to change and actions that you can take. We will reach this through offering communication-systems that are scalable, measurable and broken down to steps to reach your group’s goal. All these systems are developed for and around teams, so group work will be an essential part of your training experience. At the heart of this process is ‘experiential education,’ or learning by doing. If you already use the Outward Bound Method you will have the chance to experience the extended version of it, and if you haven’t managed to use the OB Method yet, you will find practical tools and approaches with which you can combine it.
We will work with situations that are unfolding on the spot or with concrete situations brought by you from home. We make sure that during the AToT/2 you will often switch between the roles of the participant, of the observer and of the facilitator and we pay extra attention to translate all your learnings and insights to your own context. This way you can start practicing the newly acquired skills and competencies that you unlocked right away!

Support system of the AToT/2…
Support system of the AToT/2 offers psychological support for all of the participants. This 3-layered system will be active throughout the whole event and it is there to bring psychological safety to the participants of the AToT/2.
Professional support system of the AToT/2 will be there to offer you instant support and stimulate your agility in times of need. We intend to intensively utilize this system throughout the whole AToT/2 program.
AOF (advanced outdoor facilitator) – a position open for every participant during the 3-day expedition, where you can experience the position of the expedition-facilitator, with all the logistics & responsibilities – supported in this process by the trainers. In this position the AOF you have the chance to experiment with actions & reactions, and you will receive valuable feedback from participants and trainers. Since the construction of the outdoor expedition is significantly different to the AToT/1, this will also top up your game as an outdoor facilitator.
The challenge offers you a purpose in the training: it is an opportunity to design a program based on your context and for your context. You will facilitate a short taster of your program, since AToT/2 is the best environment for feedback and additional support.
The plan is your master plan for action, once you go home. You will have the chance to design it from the beginning of the training, and all the activities regarding the plan have the aim to translate your experience and knowledge gathered during the AToT/2 into something tangible. The plan will work hand in hand with the challenge and you will have the chance to receive feedback on it and additional support if needed.
