Project CARING for foreigners integration

Achievements of CARING project for foreigner integration

The world has been very turbulent recently. This makes thousands of thousands of people change their place of living, in search of a safer life and a better future for their children. Yet, it might be difficult to adapt to a new social and cultural environment and integrate in the society. The main reason for that would be lack of specific cultural knowledge, that could make foreigners' inclusion faster and smoother.

With a view to fostering integration of immigrants and enhancing their opportunities in their new countries of residence, our consortium (DSG Consultores from Spain, CSR Innovative Solutions from Norway and IERFOP ONLUS from Italy) came up with an idea of implementing a series of activities directed to giving cultural knowledge to foreigners. In the frame of that, three activities were developed: Cultural courses, Video Testimonials and Escape Rooms.

In this blog post, we would like to share an overview of the cultural courses that took place in the three named countries. The general guide was similar for all countries, yet the course was specifically designed to reflect necessary information about a particular country's culture. The following aspects were covered in the course: History, Arts, National Holidays, Politics, Religion, Traditions, Music and Cuisine.

Spanish cultural course.

In Spain, the course was given to 10 young people from different African and South American countries, who have stayed in Spain for a quite short time. The students found the course helpful and informative, and also took the opportunity to share their culture and compare it with the Spanish one.

Italian cultural course.

In Italy, the immigrants were of different profiles, with some of them being members of Women Development Organization Aidos. The course seemed interesting and important to them, as well, with a great advantage being the possibility to cook together and share a meal after the learning was finished.

Norwegian cultural course.

In Norway, the course participants were members of different organizations and preferred not to reveal their faces, so those are blurred on the pictures. The course implementation coincided with the National Holiday in Norway, which granted a full immersion and interaction.

The participants' feedback was positive and assured us that we had delivered a high-quality product that our target groups were able to benefit from.
