Aligning Qualifications with EU Standards: Key Step Towards Accessing the European Labour Market

Citizens of Montenegro can practice regulated professions – such as doctors, architects, pharmacists, or teachers – in the European Union labor market through the recognition of their professional qualifications. For this to be possible, national legislation must be fully aligned with European rules and standards, it was emphasized today at a workshop dedicated to drafting national regulations governing professions, in accordance with Directive 2005/36/EC and Directive 2013/55/EU.

The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue and the project "Center for Strategic Legal Counseling for Montenegro (PLAC)", funded by the European Union. The aim of the event was to inform the competent institutions about the obligations arising from European directives and the national Law on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications, in order to initiate the process of harmonizing sectoral regulations and ensure their practical implementation.
