HISTORY IS TOUCHED STICK BY STOP IN THE TOKAT KIZIK KILIM

We continue to be a bridge between the past and the future of a generation with our Kızık Rug Weaving course opened by Tokat Public Education Center.

Kızıks, one of the 24 tribes of the Oghuzs, came to Anatolia in the 13th century and contributed to the Turkification of Anatolia. Tokat Kızık Rug, which is a type of rug with unique patterns belonging to the Kızık tribe of the Oghuz Turks, which has survived from Central Asia to the present day, is woven according to traditional methods and procedures, and is one of the important examples of Turkey's traditional hand weaving arts. These rugs, produced in the Kızık village of Tokat, attract attention with their unique patterns and colors.

Cultural motifs, which continue to exist from past to present, are an expression of the beliefs, stories and various rituals of the society in which they exist. In Turkish culture, where weaving has become an art, rug motifs and their meanings have survived to this day as an important cultural value. In Tokat Kızık Rug; The fingered motif consisting of interlocking squares on vibrant and contrasting colors such as dark blue and red is used on the background. While the fingered motif actually depicts a pregnant woman, the smallest square in the middle represents the baby in the womb.

Nowadays, rugs are not woven and the number of people who know how to weave rugs is gradually decreasing. In order for this culture not to be forgotten and the tradition to continue, we, as Tokat Public Education Center, continue to be a bridge between the past and the future of a generation with the courses we open.
