Emerging Technologies as a Tool for Inclusion: AI, AR/VR and Training

The evolution of emerging technologies has created new opportunities to rethink adult learning, making it more inclusive, accessible and engaging

In recent years, the evolution of emerging technologies has created new opportunities to rethink adult learning, making it more inclusive, accessible and engaging.

At Nexa Data, an Innovative SME active in developing digital solutions and technology consulting, we have chosen to invest in pilot initiatives combining Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality to support lifelong learning.

But what does it really mean to bring these technologies into training?

Artificial Intelligence to Personalise Learning

AI can analyse interaction and performance data to create personalised learning paths, tailored to the learner’s pace and learning styles. The main benefits include:

  •  Real-time identification of the topics learners struggle with most

  • Suggestions for additional customised resources

  • Immediate and motivating feedback

In our experience, even a simple AI-powered chatbot can act as a valuable virtual tutor guiding learners independently.

Augmented and Virtual Reality for Immersive Learning

AR and VR technologies help overcome physical and cognitive barriers by simulating real-world situations where learners can practise procedures, scenarios or behaviours. For example:

  • In technical upskilling courses, Augmented Reality supports the visualisation of complex components and processes.

  • In professional empowerment programmes, Virtual Reality allows learners to practise soft skills (public speaking, conflict management) in safe, simulated environments.

These tools reduce performance anxiety, increasing confidence and self-efficacy.

Digital Inclusion as a Driver of Participation

The combination of AI and immersive technologies is a powerful driver of inclusion:

🔹 It adapts content to prior skills and knowledge

🔹 It makes the experience more intuitive for learners unfamiliar with traditional training

🔹 It encourages active participation, even in socially or professionally disadvantaged contexts

For SMEs and educational organisations, integrating these technologies means not only innovating learning models but also creating more equitable and motivating environments.

Our Commitment

At Nexa Data, we continue to invest in research and development to:

  • Experiment with new AR/VR use cases in adult learning

  • Design AI tools that improve personalisation of learning paths

  • Promote a culture of innovation accessible to all ages and skill levels

We believe these technologies are not just a trend, but a real opportunity to foster digital inclusion and build skills that matter today and tomorrow.

There are some exciting developments from a digital perspective that could create some valuable learning experiences. However, I would have some concern for people who don't have the skills to engage digitally. As we advance in the digital space, we run the risk of increasing the gap between the learners who can engage and the learners who can't.

You've raised a very important point: digital inclusion must remain a priority. The risk of widening the gap between those who have digital skills and those who do not is real. For this reason, every innovation should be accompanied by digital literacy training, technical support, and accessible tools for all students, regardless of their background. It’s a challenge that requires not only vision, but also responsibility.
