Double Degree Master Program Management of Educational Services, Adult and Continuing Education

Double degree with Padua
Starting with the upcoming winter semester, the University of Würzburg offers the possibility to obtain a double degree in the field of adult and continuing education. Partner in the master program is the University of Padua.
Studying the first semester at the University of Würzburg, the second semester at the University of Padua, in the third semester back to Würzburg and in the fourth working on the master thesis: This is the rough plan for a new study offer at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität of Würzburg (JMU): the double-degree program with the Università degli Studi di Padova, the University of Padua.
Applications for the start in the winter semester 2023/24 are now open; the application deadline is July 15, 2023. Enrolees will then have until the end of October to decide whether to choose the double-degree model or the "regular" program, which takes place exclusively in Würzburg.
An information session on the new double-degree master's will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. CET via Zoom. Registration is required to attend: https://go.uniwue.de/infomeetingzoom
Knowledge of Italian is not essential for the double degree; the language of instruction at both universities is English. Successful graduates will receive both the Laurea Magistrale in Management dei servizi educativi e formazione continua from the University of Padua and the Master of Arts in Educational Science from the University of Würzburg.
Emphasis on adult education
The focus of the double-degree program is on adult education and lifelong learning with an international orientation. The main goal is to train students in the fields of educational management and adult and continuing education with an interdisciplinary approach. The spectrum of topics ranges from adult education, continuing education, and philosophy of education to methods of adult education research and media pedagogy to organizational and human resource development.
Students who complete the double-degree program thus not only have the opportunity to earn two degrees and spend at least one semester at one of Europe's oldest universities. They simultaneously undergo preparation for their future educational work and life in an international and "transcultural" environment. And for those who don't plan to earn two degrees at once now: The program also offers the possibility of taking only individual modules and earning credit points there.
"Padua has renowned experts in the field of international human resources and organizational development. Together with the focus on adult education in Würzburg, the students will be excellently prepared for international fields of work in adult and continuing education," said Regina Egetenmeyer-Neher, welcoming the new cooperation agreement. Egetenmeyer-Neher holds the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education at the University of Würzburg; she was one of the driving forces behind the double-degree program. According to her, the cooperation with Padua offers students the chance to "study for a semester in one of the oldest and most beautiful university cities in Europe."
The University of Padua
The University of Padua was founded in 1222 and is one of the most renowned teaching institutions in Europe. Today, around 60,000 young men and women study there. Its 32 departments employ a good 2,200 teachers and over 2,400 administrative staff. More than 13,000 graduates complete their studies here every year.
With a population of more than 210,000, Padua is a student-friendly city where student life and city life are close together. Located in the Veneto region, Padua stands out for its proximity to beautiful natural landscapes and places of tourist importance. Venice, for example, can be reached by train in 30 to 40 minutes, making it the perfect destination for a day trip or a special night out.
