Agile learning practices for women leaders in Wales

At Chwarae Teg, we recognise that a significant barrier for working women in Wales to adult education is a lack of flexibility in learning. Our Agile Nation2 programme, which operates across Wales, is financed by the European Social Fund and Welsh Government and is unique in that it offers a career development programme for women created by women and tailored to meet the individual needs of each learner. We ask women where they would like to go career-wise and support them to reach their professional goals using a holistic approach.

This programme has been established as women continue to be underrepresented at a managerial level across Wales, evidence shows that women are underrepresented in key STEM industries and  8% of employed women in wales are in management compared with 12% of men.

Although this programme has been very successful to date, all of the learning opportunities we have offered up until now have been face to face. We are therefore very pleased to announce that we have adopted a blended learning approach for participants whereby they can access some of our modules remotely and complete them online.

In addition to the online modules we offer which include topics such as ‘Maximise your Learning Potential’ and ‘Study Support’, we are now able to offer tutor-led webinars for example ‘Create a winning CV’. This means that our participants can complete some of their learning and refreshers online and catch-ups via skype, requiring less time off work and enabling them to fit their learning around their busy lifestyles.
