"Learning in Prison. Family matters." An animation made with fathers and children at HMP Parc

Children at HMP Parc in Bridgend, Wales have helped produce a film sharing how prison education is changing their fathers’ lives.
The film, produced by Prisoners’ Education Trust, involved nine children, two mums, six dads, and one grandfather. It includes the drawings and voices of the family members, and was produced and recorded in the prison’s pioneering Families Wing.
PET funds over 3,000 courses a year for people in prison, in subjects and levels otherwise unavailable. Accessing education has been proven to significantly reduce the risk of reoffending after release, helping secure better futures both for individuals and their families.
Hoping to make a family member proud, or being about to support them after release, if often cited as a main reason for applying to our courses.
On any given day, 200,000 children in England and Wales are affected by a family member being in prison.
