ICT Tree of Learning
This free downloadable resource was created by the Education and Training Foundation for tutors of ICT.
The aims of using the Tree of Learning are threefold: to help learners to reflect on why they wish to learn ICT skills by exploring learners' hopes, fears and expectations. In turn, this is expected to help the tutor to plan lessons an dtraining to meet learners’ needs and to break down barriers.
Given the aims of the Tree of Learning, it may be adapted for use in other areas other than ICT.
This being said, the resource highlights that the Tree of Learning may be used in three different ways:
- for initial (and subsequent) assessment
- for a Desk Top Publishing (DTP) course for beginners
- to explore learners' hopes, fears and expectations
