Developing business models through the Business Model Canvas method

The ProBM2 project “Understanding and Developing Business Models in the Globalization Era” is addressed to current or future entrepreneurs, as well as trainers in the field of entrepreneurship, offering an integrated online training system (https://probm2.cti.ugal.ro), on the topic of developing business models through the Business Model Canvas method.
The integrated training system includes two components:
- educational platform for teaching and learning - offers 11 course modules through which the 9 component elements of the Business Model Diagram are described: Key partners, Key activities, Value proposition (Added value), Channels, Key resources, Relations with customer, Customer segment, Cost structure, Revenue streams. A special section on Citizenship and Professional Values is added to these modules. The resources provided by the educational platform for teaching and learning have been made in a friendly way and are easy to access and use. Each course module has two formats, one format for learning and another for teaching, which can be used directly by trainers. In addition to the course modules, the learning and teaching platform provides users with online tools for practice and training through online interaction:
- A graphical Editor that allows the interactive completion, online, of the Business Model Diagram, with the possibility of downloading and printing.
- An online Financial calculator that allows you to estimate the financial results of a business model based on initial values entered by the user (estimated costs and revenues, customers, reimbursement, etc.). The economic estimation results provided by the Financial Calculator can also be printed or downloaded by the user. For a good understanding of the correlations between the financial-economic parameters of a business, the Financial Calculator provides examples of financial calculations and practical business explanations.
- Gamification & testing - each course module offers tests and interactive games through which the user can check if he has acquired or understood the notions specific to a business model.
- platform for instructional development and pedagogical experimentation - is implemented through a content management (CMS Moodle). Open and free access to the instructional development platform can be achieved through student or teacher / publisher accounts. The instructional development platform provides the necessary support for uploading, creating and accessing new courses, for developing case studies, for creating assessment test packages or knowledge self-assessment. Discussion forums, webinars, events, working groups that can be held within the platform can play the role of effective tools for organizing cycles or training programs or for pedagogical experimentation. The integrated training system developed within the ProBm2 project is available in 6 variants corresponding to the 6 languages of the countries from which the project partners come: Poland, Romania, Malta, Italy, Greece, and Portugal.
