The problem:

  • Very strong language barriers that hinder the work of practitioners
  • Few tools and few solutions adopted to mitigate barriers and improve association services
  • Poor sensitivity to the language problem
  • Sense of exclusion of young workers who suffer the consequences of lack of sensitivity to the problem
  • Sense of helplessness of practitioners who would like to explore the issue and find solutions to the daily language problem

Project objectives:

  • introduce stakeholders to the dimension of structured and need-driven communication (interlingual and otherwise) in connection with the horizontal priorities of inclusion and innovation and the sector priority of improving educators' skills.
  • Enabling the most appropriate forms of communication to solve communication problems with the migrant community in connection with the horizontal priorities of inclusion and active participation.
  • as an outcome of items A and B, mitigate/eliminate stressful situations for practitioners caused by the language barrier in connection with the priority of improving educators' skills.
  • soliciting from stakeholders the activation of an effective communication dynamic in connection with the horizontal priorities of inclusion and active participation and the sector priority of improving educators' skills.
  • identify one/some cases of implementation of the proposed communication model with the aim of constituting a positive case for dissemination to other situations beyond the duration of the project in connection the priority of improving educators' skills.
  • strengthen the role of frontline workers by making them autonomous and professionalized in connection the priority of improving the skills of educators.
  • as an outcome of the activities undertaken, disseminate the results of the project and the implementation cases of the proposed communication model to the local agencies and organizations of the project partners to create awareness of the problem and facilitate the adoption of the same tools proposed in the inclusion and active participation project.

Description:

Each of the two partners identifies 5 (medium/large) organizations that work for the migrant/foreigner community. For each association, 2 operators will be involved: totally, 10 people per partner.

Through preliminary meetings, the communication needs of the practitioners involved will be investigated and information, problems, methodologies and tools, suggestions and hopes will be gathered. After the initial group work, individual interviews will be conducted to gather the individual perspectives of the various practitioners.Gathering these results, analysis will be conducted and a document will be created that will illustrate:

  • The needs of the organizations' community of workers
  • The problems encountered- The biggest causes of stress for operators
  • The degree of sensitivity to language issues
  • Proposals for case-based solutions in a toolkitAt the end, the results and the handbook produced will be presented to the practitioners.

Together we will work to:

  • Train the practitioners involved so that they can support colleagues in the organization itself and so that they in turn train other practitioners (through meetings and activities)
  • Prepare together the training webinars held by the same
  • Prepare the final event and dissemination materials together
