EPALE - Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe

Volkshochschule Hannover

Germany.

The `Volkshochschule Hannover´, founded in 1919, is a non-profit adult education institution under tutorship of the Municipality of Hanover.
The school offers a programme each year of around hundred and twenty thousand teaching periods. In total around thirty thousand participants attend to our further education courses each year. The further education program includes all aspects of general, vocational, social and cultural education. The main objective laid down in the constitution of the organisation is to help all citizens to participate in all aspects of social life.
In the vocational training we run courses in the fields of business, accounting, management, ICT and soft-skills in our general program but also on request of enterprises for their employees. Furthermore we train unemployed people in the field of commerce and accounting in long-term trainings with the formal exam of the chamber for industries and commerce at the end. We are also busy in the field of training and education for immigrants and refugees.
We have a wide range of experience in European Projects. E.g. the development of business-skills in the area of social enterprises and the general support for those enterprises has been an important topic in the last years. We are part of several networks with enterprises and other adult educational institutions.
