TR Izmir Governorship

Izmir Governorship is one of the 81 provincial Governorships of Turkey and İzmir is the third biggest city of the Country with 4.3 million populations. Izmir Governorship is a local public authority that coordinates all governmental services, such as education, health, security, environment, public works, culture, tourism, etc. in the province through Its subunits and it has 256 staff.
The EU and Foreign Relations Bureau, which is one of the subunits of Izmir Governorship works with the aim to increase awareness on the EU accession period in Turkey. The Bureau develops and participate multilateral European projects in the field of education, culture, social inclusion of disadvantaged, youth and other social subjects. The Bureau plays an active role in dissemination, exploitation, evaluation and implementation parts of the projects in Izmir province. The Bureau has a broad experience in developing partnerships, is able to support and promote the implementation of European policy agenda for growth, jobs, equality and social inclusion at local, national and EU level. It also works in cooperation with relevant public, municipal and social actors at local and national level.
As a governmental organization it also provides free guidance and counselling services for organizations (Public body and NGO’s) working on youth, women and adult education, inclusion and empowerment of disadvantaged groups. The aim of the Bureau is to increase the number and quality of the EU projects developed in Izmir, to share experiences and information in Izmir and other EU member countries.
