Sastamala College (Sastamala Community College) is a non-profit open Finnish Adult Education Centre. College welcomes all learners, young and old, and offers opportunities for a wide range of opportunities for recreation and research. Learning is largely self-motivated and, as a rule, not aimed at achieving formal qualifications. There are 181 open adult education centres in Finland, and every year more than one in ten Finns, a total of 650,000 people, attend an adult education centre.
We are looking for opportunities to participate, especially the Erasmus+ accreditation mobilities, KA2 and KA1 projects as well as NordPlus. In addition, we are interested in other EU initiatives related to adult education, migrant education, e-learning, as well as children and young people in art education.
Sastamala Community College has been granted Erasmus accreditation for the period 2021-2027. We are looking for co-operation and hosting organizations for mobilities of our staff and groups of adult learners.
We have experience in the European Union, international and multilateral adult education and school education projects. The school has participated in a total of 20 international and multilateral adult education in the European Union and the school educational projects since 2004, and is currently a partner in the Erasmus + KA2 strategic partnership. Sastamala College is international.
Courses cover different areas such as life skills, music, expressive arts, crafts, information technology, languages, cooking, sports and well-being. College is also a small open university Education Department. Every year the college organizes talks and lectures on various cultural topics as well as current social and historical issues. College also offers a Finnish as a second language training for immigrants. It is also possible to study languages, as well as a private student network to use the Internet.
In addition, the College runs a children's and young people's art education program with the national curriculum drama (theater studies), crafts, art (illustrative arts) and dance. These topics have a national curriculum. Students who take courses in art education College are 7-18 years old.
Sastamala College offers more than 1,000 courses each year about 20,000 teaching hours region Sastamala rural town, its surroundings and online, hiring of about 200 freelance teachers annually. On the permanent staff consists of the Principal, six educational and administrative coordinators, two administrative staff, and one part-time regional leader. The school is responsible for designing their own curriculum that it best reflects the demand of the local area.
The college is publicly funded and it is owned by the city of Sastamala.
