Sarıcakaya Social Asistance and Solidary Foundation
Sarıcakaya is a cute district of Eskişehir province. Although this charming district is in the Central Anatolia Region, it has a different climate due to its altitude of 220 meters from the sea and the mountain ranges up to 1300 meters in the north and south. Although Sarıcakaya is located at the crossroads of Central Anatolia, West Black Sea, and Marmara Regions, it has the characteristics of Mediterranean Climate. Our region has microclimate features. The Sakarya River divides the district from east to west.
VEGETABLE AND FRUIT
The main economic activity in the district is agriculture.
80% of the local people earn their living through farming. Vegetable production is typical because the Sakarya valley is suitable for irrigated agriculture, and the climate is a microclimate. Fruit growing is secondary.
Among fruit types, there is an increase in apricot, pomegranate, fig, and pistachio production. The products obtained here are offered for consumption in the domestic market, especially in Eskişehir, Ankara, and Istanbul.
FARMING
It is grown in corn, alfalfa, and vetch type plants for animal husbandry. In recent years, poultry farming has spread rapidly in our district and villages, and the full-fledged animals that are raised in modern chicken farms are offered for consumption in the domestic market.
BEEKEEPING
Because our district is green and preserves this feature in almost all months of the year, beekeeping has spread rapidly among our people, and now quality honey that can compete with the foreign market is produced.
SILK BEETLE AND YARN PRODUCTION
Silk breeding is still carried out in 4 villages and central districts.
Our association provides training and seminars to keep our citizens living in Eskişehir and other provinces together in social and cultural fields. Also, it organizes various activities that try to reach those in need.
