Public Open University Zagreb

Public Open University Zagreb (POUZ) is the biggest national adult education institution and has the longest tradition of andragogical work in Croatia. Its tradition goes far back to the year 1907. The founder of the POUZ is the city of Zagreb, i.e. municipal authorities.
More than 20,000 students attend over 300 various programmes yearly, concerning both formal (elementary and secondary school programs, vocational training and retraining) and non-formal education conducted in POUZ Culture Centre and University of the Third Age . Our programmes are intended for companies, elderly people, students or specific target groups within the various projects for which we have specifically designed programmes. University has a rich publishing activity and issues manuals, textbooks, magazines, journals.
The POUZ has location in Zagreb situated within one of the most functional buildings of modern architecture, designed for adult education and training built in 1962. (50 classrooms, 10 cabinets, 10 ICT cabinets, conference hall, library, 3 galleries).
POUZ has 10 years long experience in developing and conducting EU funded projects and is associate member of EAEA (European Association for Education of Adults), member of DANET (international umbrella association of education institutions, fostering education and science in the domains of lifelong learning, social participation and dialogue in the Danube countries), member of AIUTA (International Association of Universities of the Third Age), member of Croatian Adult Education Society.
