PROVINCIAL DIRECTORATE OF HEALTH IN HATAY, TURKEY

The city, Hatay, is at the south edge of Turkey and is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea in the west, Syria in the south and east, Adana in the north-east, Osmaniye in the north and Gaziantep in the north-east. Its acreage is 5524 square km and the city consists of 46, 1 % mountains, 33, 5% plains 20, 4%plateaus. Also, it has approximately 276 km border with Syria.
The Provincial Directorate of Health in Hatay was set up in 1939, when the Hatay State was connected to Turkey as its city and has been providing services on health since then. The Directorate provides equal, qualified, easy access, modern and effective health services to its population with 1.609.850 Turkish and 500.000 Syrian. 118 Community Health Centers, 112 Sanatoriums and 24 Health Centers for migrants provides services on mother and baby health, vaccination, diagnosis, examination and treatment provide services as preventive health services. Besides, 11 Public Hospitals and 4 Dental Health Centers provide further examination and treatment services and 54 Emergency Health Stations provide 7/24 immediate medical response and ambulance services. The Directorate also provides trainings mainly on reproductive health, health and security in workplace, pregnancy, anemia and first aid. Between the years 2013-2018, for five years, 2127 adults attended the trainings on first aid, which constitutes the main element of the project, and 5692 adults were informed about it with the help of seminars.
