PSONI is the largest organisation in Poland working with people who have intellectual disabilities. Our Association was founded in 1963 and is a non-governmental, self-help, non-profit organization, whose aim is to act for the sake of equal opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, creating conditions for respecting human rights for people with intellectual disabilities, leading them to active participation in social life, acting to protect their health and supporting their families. 

The Association consists of 118 Branches. Nearly 11 thousand people are members of PSONI, most of whom 75% are parents of people with intellectual disabilities. 

The PSONI Lublin Branch, which I represent, offers, among other services, Occupational Therapy Workshops for 27 adults with certificates of moderate and severe intellectual disability. 

As part of our Occupational Therapy Workshops, we are currently implementing a project titled "Non-Vocational Education of people with intellectual disabilities." 

As part of this project, we have planned a study visit aimed at familiarising ourselves with the system of non-vocational education of adults with disabilities, exchanging experiences in this area, acquiring new knowledge and developing competences. 

Therefore, I would like to kindly ask if you would be willing and able to support us in implementing this project.

We would be grateful if you could create opportunities for us to, for example, observe the work of your participants in Occupational Therapy Workshops, see the functioning of organisations working for the education of people with intellectual disabilities, or visit educational units offering education in the integration system.

The costs related to the visit – i.e. travel, accommodation, meals for our 4 participants with intellectual disabilities and 3 instructors – we undertake to bear within our budget.

However, our budget is so limited that in exchange for hospitality us from the organizational side, we can offer a return visit in the future on similar terms and invite you to visit our PSONI Lublin Branch and participate in classes with our Participants. We would also appreciate your advice on exploring the tourist attractions in your region.
