The institution is called “Karabağlar Halk Eğitim Merkezi (Public Education Center)” and it is located in Karabağlar which is the biggest district of İzmir. One principle and four assistant principals that have experience in management, Erasmus projects and have Europass certificate work at our institution. Moreover, there are 12 permanent teachers and 256 temporary educators. It is one of the advantages of our institution that there are teachers and project teams experienced in their fields and Erasmus projects.

In the district that has around 550.000 population, we offer service to graduate students and adults by conducting courses in various areas. Thanks to our physical conditions’ being high level and location’s being central, the number of courses and trainees are higher than the other public education centers. At the institution there are 12 classrooms that are used actively, 5 workshops used in different fields, a kindergarten where our trainees’ children take education, 6 offices that belongs to executives and staff for various business fields, a meeting hall with the capacity of 100 people, and a multi-purpose hall with the capacity of 600 people that is used for seminars, conferences, exhibitions and etc. by public enterprises and  private corporations in İzmir.  

In 2019 there were 2447 courses addressing the adults and 40.159 trainees took education in those courses. We have been training 75 mentally disabled people aged over 23 since 2016. In addition, we have been carrying out two projects for Syrian children that are under temporary protection. In order to integrate Syrian children into our education system or for the ones that doesn’t have access to education opportunities, Cram School project started in 2018 under the control of Directorate General for Life Long Learning with the cooperation of UNICEF. The kids that complete these courses successfully continue their education in formal training. Currently, we are offering education to 67 Syrian children that are aged between 10-17.

Within the context of “Language Education for Adults” which is a United Nations Development Program, Syrians that are aged over 18 and under temporary protection are taking Turkish language education at the levels of A1 – A2 and B1.
