Escola Profissional do Infante is a private educational institution, which pursues purposes of public interest and enjoys pedagogical, administrative and financial autonomy, subject to the scientific, pedagogical and functional supervision of the Ministry of Education.

Created by Program Contract with the Ministry of Education, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 26/89, of January 21, and in full operation since July 1990.

It is located in Vila Nova de Gaia, the third largest municipality in the country, in terms of resident population. Bringing together twenty-four parishes, it can be said that its fundamental characteristics, in terms of economic fabric, include:

a notorious desertification of the rural world; a strong development of the heavy metalworking industry; a notable investment in commerce and services, sectors where the percentage of global employability is around 60%; a construction sector in permanent and rapid evolution.
