The cooperative was founded in 2012 with the aim to promote the respect for fundamental freedoms, human rights, politics and economic independence, fair and sustainable development and people and individuals’ self-determination; it conforms to UN Charter principles, this means itis planning to realize initiatives of development cooperation, humanitarian aid, education, training and information. The Social Cooperative Society Fo.Co. Onlus, operating in accordance with the principles of mutuality and social solidarity, aims to pursue the general interest of human promotion and integration of citizens, through the management of social and health services and education.

MISSION

We want to work for a sustainable development of the territory and the promotion of individuals and diversity, by offering services to individuals, professional training courses and design/planning to the public and private sector.

The Cooperative has as its object the following activities that can be carried out either on own account or be addressed to companies, public bodies, non-profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, voluntary organizations, associations, Cooperatives, schools, training institutions, universities and other institutions of higher education, as defined by current legislation, public or private, consortia, informal groups and private citizens, in national, European and international, also in partnership or through the stipulation of agreements and collaboration contracts, temporary and / or indefinitely, namely:

- promote and foster the work of organizations, bodies and people who, in Italy and abroad, work in the field of development cooperation and solidarity among peoples, in order to implement better and more effective cooperation, promoting, with mutual benefit, relations of equitable exchange between peoples in the cultural, social and economic fields;

- encourage, with activities and interventions, the self-development initiatives of the peoples of developing countries, respecting their political, economic and cultural autonomy, using appropriate intervention tools;

- assistance, rehabilitation and education of unable, sick, elderly, minors, immigrants, homeless people, people with psychiatric discomfort and subjects with social and / or economic disadvantage through the management of residential and / or day care centers, housing communities, communities therapeutic, rehabilitation centers, occupational centers and any other structure that contributes to the achievement of these purposes.

SERVICES

The cooperative Fo.Co. has acquired best practices in the field of reception, integration and protection of minors in difficulty, adopting, inter alia, its own policy to protect minors. Other activities include:

Educational services, Italian literacy and cultural/linguistic mediation, social and legal assistance to a community for minors and SPRAR territorial projects;

Social planning, research of regional, national and European funding call, writing projects, research and creation of partnership network, management and administrative reporting activities of projects;

In partnership with the C.P.I.A. (Provincial Center for Adult Education), directly manages a center for the Italian language literacy and for the achievement of the former media license.

RESEARCH

With the International Students Center Giorgio La Pira of Florence is developing new methods for the first literacy of the Italian language to foreigners and to subjects with social problems;

Redaction of a child protection policy.                         

WELCOMING PROJECTS

The direct management in agreement with different municipalities in Sicily and Calabria of little communities for Non-Accompanied Foreign Minors (MSNA) related to the Italian Protection System for Asylum Seekers and Refugees (SPRAR project) and financed by the Ministry of Interior;

Long experience in the areas of integration, literacy, school integration, vocational training, job placement of youngs in difficulty with the management of schooling services, literacy, legal support, social assistance, cultural mediation and social and health services within of the SPRAR projects;

The direct management in agreement with different mucipalities in Sicily of an Integrated reception for vulnerable MSNA funded by the 2014-2020 Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund - Strengthening of reception services and specific assistance for MSNA with mental vulnerability.

OTHER PROJECTS

The direct management of the "Mediterranean Center of Studies and Training Giorgio La Pira" www.centromediterraneolapira.org/it, promoted by the cooperative Fo.Co., Fondazione Migrantes and Fondazione Giorgio La Pira of Florence. The center deals with the study of the migratory phenomenon of minors and of integration processes in Italy, offering national level training courses to support the MSNAs, reception operators and institutional subjects;

With other italian NGOs: AMU and AFN the cooperative has promoted and manages the project "Making System Beyond Reception", www.faresistemaoltrelaccoglienza.it/, project of social and working inclusion of minors with difficulty and realization of  national networks of companies and families willing to give their support.

In partnership with the Municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi, the Social Cooperative Nostra Signora di Gulfi and the F.E.A.R.T. Erice, manages the project Give Value to the City https://valorizziamolacitta.jimdo.com/, funded by the Department of Youth and National Civil Service, which carries out actions for the valorization and promotion of assets of the Municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi, with self-sustainable tourism and educational purpose, ensuring its fruition, through the inclusion of a network of young people in their integrated management.

Erasmus KA2 - Migrant Liter@cies: The project has its focus the exchange and identification of best practice on literacy for asylum seekers and refugees and also focus on development of innovative practices in the field of adult education, specifically concerning digital literacy, identification and development of new tools for improving the job of teachers and mediators in the education of adult migrants
