Cooperativa sociale "Il Sogno di una Cosa ONLUS"

“Il Sogno di una cosa” is a non-profit social cooperative operating in Turin and in the Turin's province involved in educational activities for young people, particularly with the disabled ones. The organization was founded in 1982 as a gathering of socially orientated operators, to facilitate educational action toward young people with disabilities and research in welfare and educational-cultural fields.
To fully accomplish its mission as a social enterprise the cooperative:
-operates through the management of social and health services, welfare and education to pursue bio-psycho-social well-being and quality of life for young people, their families and the territory as a whole in the interest of common good;
-the cooperative promotes the general interest of the community, active citizenship, social inclusion and social integration of all citizens, especially young and disadvantaged people at risk of social exclusion and marginalization;
-the cooperative states the need of a culture that values diversity and inclusion and that avoids any kind of discrimination.
-It is in possession of an ethical vision that focuses on the person and enhances the personal resources and desires;
-Is in possession of a global view that moves in the direction of understanding and take care of the person, not only for the medical condition, but for the psychological experience of discomfort and for the feeling of isolation and social stigma;
-the cooperative ensures the compliance with all the rules about taxation and social security contributions, rights of the workers, safety and health at work and the application of the National Collective Workers Contract.
-adopts a responsible leadership model, based on dialectics, authoritative and personal example;
-It guarantees the continuity, quality and service improvement in respect of people and environment;
-It encourages the quality of work and personal skills and competences of the younger generations;
The Cooperative has an average size, the social body consists currently of 62 members and 35 employees, with different professional profiles: administrators, educators, social and health workers (O.S.S.), animators, psychologists, nurses, medical staff, cleaners.
Over the years the cooperative is been involved in developing services and interventions supporting the needs of people in struggle, their families and the citizenship, working daily with public services, private organizations and voluntary organizations.
To date our social enterprise collaborates with three A.S.L.(Local Health and Welfare Organizations): A.S.L. TO1,TO2,TO3; with the City of Turin; with associations of local authorities of Nichelino (CISA 12), Rivoli (CISA), of Collegno-Grugliasco (CISAP), of Valle di Susa (Con I.S.A.); with the social cooperatives in the consortium N.A.O.S.;
The coop is part of the Lega delle Cooperative(League of Cooperatives), to a supplementary health mutuality fund called Solideo and of a Mutual Aid Society called Solidea.
In particular, the cooperative deals with:
-management of 5 day care services and 6 different residential facilities such as: Autonomy Services and guided cohabitation, apartment groups, community housing, flexible welfare residences; these services for disabled young people are distributed in the territories of Turin, Nichelino and in the Susa Valley.
The coop supports activities and collaboration with families of disabled people, self-help groups, training and support to caregivers, co-designing with the families of training pathways for the development of the autonomy of young disabled;
-education projects of non-formal and informal learning for young people with disabilities aimed at learning autonomy held in the Turin area;
-youth policies and projects in the schools, both in the City of Turin and in the Susa Valley;
projects about inclusion and of "community development" based on the territory in the municipalities of Turin and Nichelino and in the Susa Valley
-National Civil Service projects, promoted by the Office for National Civil Service, by the Prime Minister's Office, addressed to young people aged 18 to 28 years, active in all the territories in which the Cooperative is operative;
-promotion of artistic and cultural activities with the active involvement of young people with disabilities, organizing exhibitions, shows and other initiatives carried out in different areas of Piedmont, in partnership with national and regional associations.
-collaboration with other cooperatives and associations of Piedmont and north/central Italy in the organization of seminars for professionals of the field and for the families of persons with disabilities on topics such as: plan of life of the disabled person at a young age, paths for the development of "independent living", transition from school to adult life, living condition of the disabled person.
-training for educators and volunteers.
