1st EPAL of Agios Nikolaos Lasithi Greece: Our school is the 1st Vocational Senior High School of Agios Nikolaos and it belongs to the Secondary Education of the Prefecture of Lasithi. Agios Nikolaos, is a small tourist town in the east of Crete, capital of the Prefecture and one of the most highly developed tourist towns in Greece. Our school has a big event hall, a physics and technology lab, 4 fully equipped Computer labs and 3 Electronics labs of high European standards.

Teachers: There are about 30 teachers in all our specialties the majority of whom have been implementing innovative actions in recent years, with the aim and vision of developing intercultural- alternative methods in teaching, broadening students' horizons and making them more socially integrated. Such activities, due to the lack of cultural activities in the city for most of the time, but also because of the rural and livestock nature of the settlements of the wider region in which a large number of schoolchildren reside, are the only way of contacting children with the modern social, scientific and cultural reality. Most of the teachers at our school are very experienced but at the same time very enthusiastic, open minded, and highly eager to adopt new methods of teaching.

Students: At school there are about 200 students. Some of them have been smoothly integrated into the school community, while others face integration problems. Quite a few of our students have learning difficulties (dyslexia or autism). All our students are taught one (English) and some of them two (English and German) foreign languages.

Teachers and students are mainly involved in environmental issues, music and the fight against school violence (bullying). Their knowledge in the field of information technology is exceptional (they are taught by very experienced computer teachers) and they can communicate using digital tools.
