About the Session
This virtual session focused on the Social Business Model Canvas as a tool used to design and visualize social enterprises. With a vision of creating sustainable and impactful business models that integrate social objectives with traditional business, the session explored various components of a social business modeling, which include considerations on the value proposition, customer segments, and revenue streams. Building upon previous discussions on social business and project design, and focusing on waste reduction examples participants were invited to ideate a social business model that integrate community-oriented approaches.
The team discussed the application of circular economy concepts to their own projects, with a focus on the social business model canvas, its application to renewable energy technologies and the potential of social business models to address sustainable development goals in the energy sector, particularly through circular economy transitions. They explored various business models related to sustainability and the circular economy, including resource sharing, remanufacturing products, and the product-as-a-service model. The team also discussed the potential for circularity in olive farming and the use of pellets as a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly fuel alternative.
