Suggestopedia a hidden gem


Suggestopedia is a teaching method developed by Bulgarian psychologist Georgi Lozanov in the 1970s. It combines elements of suggestion and pedagogy to enhance learning by reducing psychological barriers and promoting a positive, relaxed environment. This metod aims to accelerate learning by tapping into the brain`s hidden reserves.
Suggestopedicenter in Sweden: The National Center for Suggestopedia is located at Restad Gård in Vänersborg, Sweden. This center is a hub for training and promoting the suggestopedic method. Christina Johnstone, a prominent figure in the field, is one of the key educators at the center. She has extensive experience in teaching and developing suggestopedic materails, particularly for new asylum seekers.
Christina Johnstone: Christina has been working with the suggestopedic method since 2014 and is involved in both teaching and training new suggestopedic teachers. She is known for her innovative approach and has develeoped various educational materials and courses to support the method.
Exam for Suggestopedic Teachers: Recently, three teachers from Norway took their exams in Sweden to become certified suggestopedic teachers. They attended classes conducted in Swedish, demonstrating the method’s flexibility and international reach.
Upcoming Course in Porsgrunn: Starting in January, Porsgrunn Voksenopplæringssenter will be offering a six-week course in suggestopedia. This initiative aims to explore the effectiveness of the method in adult education and language learning.
