''İĞNE OYASI'' NEEDLE EMBROIDERY IS A TRADITIONAL TURKISH NEEDLE HANDICRAFT

   Needle embroidery (İĞNE OYASI) ,with its dimensional structure and decorative character, has an important place in our handicrafts. Needle embroidery, which dates back to ancient times, has entered the world literature as a ‘Turkish lace’. Needle embroidery documents dating back to ancient times were found in Anatolia. The word ‘Oya’ has not been found in the languages of European countries. Crafts are important in terms of reflecting the cultural personality of a nation. With handicrafts, the society has lived andstill living  in values such as  friendship and cooperation. Anatolian woman has transformed her emotions into colors and designs. By doing Needle embroidery, the women express their feelings such as reaching  to their lovers, longing, hopes and wishes .Needle embroidery, which has a very rich variety and history, has been used not only as ornamental goods but also as a means of expressing one's feelings and thoughts. Edremit Public Education Center opens needle- embroidery( iğne oyası) courses. Those who want to learn needle embroidery and want to do this job as a hobby or profession can take trainings by going to these courses.

    The content of the course program is as follows;This module provides the appropriate working environment for the technical model determination, maintaining and protecting the processes ,needle embroidery, ironing, quality control knowledge and skills and repairing worn and torn woven and knitted fabrics.

    The  aim of the course program is; helping  all young girls and housewives to get rid of consumption society and contribute to the work of production society and to be introduced and kept alive with original colors, types, forms and stories of the needlecrafts, which have an important place in the traditional Turkish handicrafts.
