Empowering youth through sustainable outdoor activities – the YGBN Project

YGBN Project.

In an era dominated by digital screens and urban landscapes, reconnecting with nature has become increasingly important for the well-being of individuals and the planet. Recognizing this need, 5 partner organizations coordinated by Paint and Quarter Horse Foundation Bulgaria, are embarking on an inspiring journey with the Youth Going Back to Nature (YGBN), an Erasmus+ project started in May 2023.

This initiative seeks to engage, connect, and empower young people, particularly those facing barriers, in embracing environmentally sustainable outdoor activities (ESOA). Through a multi-country partnership involving Bulgaria, Belgium, Lithuania, Italy, Estonia, and Croatia, YGBN aims to break down obstacles and foster a deeper connection between youth and nature.

YGBN project will provide partner organizations and youth workers with tools to work with youth with fewer opportunities, fostering capacity and skills development, peer learning, exchange of best practices as well as networking of experts and organizations active in the field of social inclusion and sports.

In particular, project partners will produce the following results:

  • R1- Creation of 3 toolkits containing useful tools to engage youth with fewer opportunities in the practice of environmentally sustainable activities.
  • R2- Creation of 3 short documentaries on environmentally sustainable activities
  • R3- Creation an interactive online European Youth Outdoor Portal
  • R4- Creation of the European Youth Outdoor Network aimed at fostering connections among various organizations focused on youth and outdoor activities

The first Toolkit  ‘’Young Women Going Back to Nature’’ and the first documentary are available on the portal.

These resources aim to provide a strategic and meaningful approach for engaging young women in nature and outdoor activities involving a well-structured progression.
