DICYSTECH project - Digital Training for Cybersecurity Students in Industrial Fields project

Project number: 2020-1-ES01-KA226-HE-095291

The “Digital Training for Cybersecurity Students in Industrial Fields – DICYSTECH” project (2021-2023), financed by the Erasmus+ Programme (KA2), unites five EU partners from Greece, Portugal, Italy and Spain in the development of open access training modules and linked cybersecurity virtual laboratories for cybersecurity education that serve a double purpose: to meet Industry 4.0 needs and to provide innovative educational practice in the digital era, supporting the uptake of innovative digital technologies (such as VLEs) for teaching and learning in HVET. Indeed, the DICYSTECH project aims to tackle the mismatch between available workers and the skills necessary for open jobs (created by the Fourth Industrial Revolution) by providing a digital training course and linked cybersecurity virtual labs for High Education students and the retraining of ICT technicians in LLL courses.

During project lifetime two main Intellectual Outputs are being developed by the Consortium:

·         “DICYSTECH Digital Training Course” (IO1), an innovative and ready to use digital training package for HE/HVET ICT staff with IT students at EQF 5+ in formal education and with adults in upskilling/reskilling training initiatives. The Modules cover Industrial Networks, Equipment and Network Protection (deploying and maintaining cybersecurity in advanced industrial contexts), the Forensic (security) Analysis of these networks and countermeasures to threats, and transversal competences necessary for cybersecurity technicians. Each Module offers learning challenges and digital tests to support learning upon completion of the learning activities. https://dicystech.eu/digital-training-course-for-students/

·         “DICYSTECH HUB of Cybersecurity Virtual Labs” (IO2), offering users virtual access to three fully developed partner cybersecurity laboratories in which learners can view and experiment with high end enabling IT technology and cybersecurity measures in simulated industrial contexts. https://dicystech.eu/hub-of-cybersecurity-virtual-labs/

The project and its activities target HE/HVET ICT staff and students as well as Industrial stakeholders (SMEs) and workers (CVET/LL learners). Thanks to its aims, all educational, industrial and other sectoral stakeholders with an interest in the training and certification of cybersecurity technicians will benefit from it.

The implementation of IOs is carrying on.

The piloting phase of both the Intellectual Outputs will be launched soon. Indeed, the IOs will be tested by 4 pilot groups (with 120+ learners) in Greece, Portugal, and Spain. In this phase, the partnership aims to provide higher education providers with the most innovative, quality and ready to use digital training materials and technology for cybersecurity technicians in Industrial environments, which will see high skilled graduate technicians and workers in upskilling and reskilling training courses, fully competent and employable within the Industry 4.0 sector.
