Aims and objectives
Be mindful! The AToT/2 is an exclusive program – this means that since involves a high amount of trust (on both ends: the participants and the facilitators), Outward Bound Romania offers this exquisite training course only to those who have taken part in the AToT/1, or the predecessor of this professionally enhanced program, the ToT Basic. If you are an Outward Bound practitioner anywhere in the world, then this restriction doesn’t apply to you.
The course uses the outdoor environment to offer all sorts of context for the trial of the methods. At the OBR International Youth Center you have the chance to experience the approaches outdoor and indoor and you can prototype and test activities around the methodology according to your own context and your target group. We use a multi-day expedition in order to stimulate a deeper understanding of the functionality and dynamics of these methodologies through a challenging frame of the expedition.
The program is designed to bring awareness to professional sustainability in the work-systems that you are using: the offered methods are there to create support systems through you can optimize your work, create a shared sustainable communication-culture in your professional environment, that brings awareness to things that have to change and actions that you can take. We will reach this through offering communication-systems that are scalable, measurable and broken down to steps to reach your group’s goal. All these systems are developed for and around teams, so group work will be an essential part of your training experience. At the heart of this process is ‘experiential education,’ or learning by doing. If you already use the Outward Bound Method you will have the chance to experience the extended version of it, and if you haven’t managed to use the OB Method yet, you will find practical tools and approaches with which you can combine it.
We will work with situations that are unfolding on the spot or with concrete situations brought by you from home. We make sure that during the AToT/2 you will often switch between the roles of the participant, of the observer and of the facilitator and we pay extra attention to translate all your learnings and insights to your own context. This way you can start practicing the newly acquired skills and competencies that you unlocked right away!
