ACE Event during The Directorate for Research, Lifelong Learning and Employability Learning Week 2022

The Directorate for Research, Lifelong Learning and Employability and the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation in Malta, had the pleasure of holding a series of Lifelong Learning Course Tasters as part of the Learning Week 2022, to mark the launch of Lifelong Learning Courses for 2022-2023 as well as launch the new EPALE cycle 2022-2024.

These events took place at our Msida Centre, Qrejten Street, Msida MSD 1252 (Corner with Junior College) on the 14th, 18th, and 20th July. More info here.

Throughout the three days, prospective learners were able to participate in interactive sessions showcasing various courses offered by the Directorate.

As part of these events, Active Citizen Education (ACE) organised a session on the 18th July.

Title: A growthful relationship - Practical ideas on how to take care of a relationship in 2022.

Speaker's name: Mr. Matthew Bartolo

Biography:

 Matthew Bartolo

Matthew Bartolo is a warranted counsellor, life skills educator and psychotherapist.  He is the founding partner of one of Malta's largest private mental health teams, Willingness Team. He is also founder and partner in other companies, such as The Solutionists, which specialises in finding and offering solutions to individuals and companies who are facing structural, human resources, or PR issues. Bartolo has worked with people from diverse backgrounds and has learnt how self - awareness and discipline are vital for a person to grow.  Matthew Bartolo, a TedX speaker has delivered talks and training as far away as Guatemala, Lithuania, Azerbaijan and Gozo.

 

Synopsis:

In these 3 hours Matthew Bartolo shares what issues he's presented with at his clinic, where he sees couples and individuals who are struggling with relationship and sexuality issues.  Are these problems common?  Can they be avoided?  

A discussion about the definition of relationship, monogamy, and expectations features as part of the interactive workshop facilitated by Bartolo. 

Are relationships made to last?  Are we expecting too much from our partner? 

 

Session summary:

During this session, the Directorate for Research, Lifelong Learning and Employability organised the activity with Mr Matthew Bartolo a warranted counsellor, life skills educator and psychotherapist. The activity involved non-formal teaching and learning by giving strategies mainly focusing on different aspects and areas on how to take care of a relationship.

During the session, participants felt a sense of belonging and they were actively engaged during the discussion and workshop. It was felt that being active within the community is beneficial for them as individuals, the community and the wider world.
