Kazaziye craft is a total hand workpiece of art. Kazaziye is a local art which is made by twisting wires of 0,08-micron thick 24-carat gold or 1000 carat silver around silk or nylon cords ıt is estimated that this historic craft has reached the present days from the Mesopotamian civilization. According to some rumors, it is stated that this craft was inherited to Anatolian people from Lydians who reigned during the second half of 28th century BC. Very first artifacts dated to Lydians are “winged seahorse brooch” and chain part of an eagle ornamented necklace. This craft is highly engaged by the Assyrian/ Christian citizens who live in Midyat, Mardin. Kazaz craft could be seen in different parts of Anatolia during the Ottoman reign, it can especially be seen in Trabzon as plait workmanship. It is also known that Ottoman Sultan Kanuni Sultan Süleyman (Süleyman the Magnificient) was a great kazaz master. Nowadays, the most preferred magazine products are modern and classical pendants, earrings, bracelets for women, 33-piece and 99-piece plait rosaries and tassels attached to rosary imamah and cufflinks for men.
Kazaz Craft consists of 8-10 motives; these motives are prepared then assembled. Golden and silver wires are twisted with a machine called "spinning wheel". There a number of twisting and knitting stages, so after these stages, a finished wire reached a thickness of 03-05 mm and this makes it strong beside its elegant look
