My Experience with the Job Shadowing Program in Body-Mind Centering®

I had the immense pleasure of participating in a job shadowing program at Moveus GbR.

I had the immense pleasure of participating in a job shadowing program at Moveus GbR, where I observed the work of teachers within the Fluid System and Ligamentous and Fascial System module in Body-Mind Centering® (BMC®). This was an exceptional opportunity to deepen my knowledge, build valuable professional connections, and develop skills in working with the body and movement.

Building Intercultural Competence and Networking

One of the most significant outcomes of my mobility was the opportunity to develop intercultural competence. While in Germany, I connected with educators and participants from diverse cultural backgrounds. Every day, I learned how to communicate and collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment, which is crucial for my future professional work. This experience also allowed me to build a network of contacts that I hope will lead to future collaborations and knowledge exchange.

Development of Creativity and Innovation

One of the most inspiring aspects of this program was learning about innovative methods of working with the body, dance, and movement. Body-Mind Centering® is an integrated and embodied approach to movement, the body, and consciousness, founded by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen. This experience was unique for me because each exercise and method I encountered was not just a technique but also a process of creative self-discovery. Each of us – myself and the other participants – were students and the subject matter, striving to discover the ease underlying transformation.

Developing Expertise in Building Engaged Participation

Observing the teachers at Moveus GbR gave me insights into how to engage participants in educational processes effectively. I learned how to create educational programs that attract new target groups and how to design content that focuses on responsible autonomy. This experience equipped me with the skills to contribute more effectively to educational initiatives at both local and international levels.

Development of Initiative and Entrepreneurship

Body-Mind Centering® is an approach with an almost limitless range of applications—from dance to occupational therapy, psychotherapy, and child development. Participating in this program allowed me to gain knowledge in various fields and create new professional development opportunities that I can now apply in my work at the Nurt Foundation.

My Tasks and Activities

During my time at Moveus GbR, I had the opportunity to observe the work of exceptional teachers such as Friederike Tröscher, Nina Wehnert, and Odile Seitz. This was a unique chance to understand how they translate the theoretical principles of BMC® into practical sessions with participants.

Observation of Teachers' Work

I observed how the teachers conducted classes, focusing on key elements of the fluid, fascial, and ligamentous systems. I learned how to differentiate anatomical structures through appropriate movement and touch, integrate them using fascia, become aware of my fluid preferences and recognise their embodiment in others.

Reflection and Analysis

After the classes, I analysed my notes and reflected on the teaching methods I observed. This allowed me to extract key insights I can now apply to my educational practice.

Meetings and Discussions

I also organised individual meetings with the teachers to discuss my observations and reflections. These conversations were incredibly valuable, providing me with new perspectives and enabling me to plan future collaborations and further knowledge exchange.

In summary, participating in this program was an invaluable experience that enriched me professionally and personally. I am enthusiastic about applying the knowledge and skills I gained to my future work and look forward to continuing this incredible growth journey.
