Learning Polish as a foreign language

Learning Polish has always been considered a challenge. Spelling other than pronunciation, many rules of punctuation and spelling, and most importantly declension cause problems for compatriots, so it is not surprising that they are an Achilles' heel for people who have not used this language from the very beginning.
Due to the increased emigration movements and the current global political situation, an influx of foreigners into our country can be observed - including a large group of children and young people who go to school. For many years, the Technical School of Hipolit Cegielski has been open to any needs of young people, especially if they need differently defined help. In order to overcome the language barrier, the school organized additional classes for foreigners, where the emphasis was laid on developing the skills needed to pass the Matura exam (the secondary school exit exam) and pass the compulsory parts of the material.
The Polish language teacher together with the librarian organized an exhibition "The Slavic Trail" aimed at introducing culture, music, film, cuisine, etc. Countries where our students come from - the exhibition was available to all classes and they could visit it during a lesson. Each Polish teacher adapts their demandings to the abilities of foreigners in the class, interest clubs and additional didactic classes aimed at both team integration and improving language skills are conducted. Discussions are also held with educators and parents in order to understand the needs of the young people and to meet them.
Participants of the project 2021-1-PL01-KA122-VET-000017142 from Ukraine confirmed the positive impact of learning Polish and other languages on their personal development and intercultural integration.
