Learning mobility as an opportunity for development

The mobility of adult learners and staff in the adult education sector as part of the Erasmus+ program, action KA122-ADU.

As part of the Erasmus+ program, action KA122-ADU Short-term projects for the mobility of adult learners and staff in the adult education sector, Eudajmonia Foundation has implemented a project called Learning Mobility as an opportunity for development, which is co-financed by the European Union.

Activities and target group:

14 individual mobilities for teaching staff (6 language courses, 8 job shadowing) and 2 group mobilities for adult learners. The participants of the individual mobilities are the employees of the Eudajmonia Foundation, and the participants of the group mobilities are the recipients of the Foundation's activities - people with disabilities (with the support of the Foundation's staff).

The project was aimed at the Foundation's teaching staff and the recipients of its educational activities - adults with disabilities/OzN interested in improving their competencies through international activities.

Project objectives:

  1. The teaching staff will improve their language skills through 6 language courses. The mobility will be held in Malta, and the host organization will be the Executive Training Institute Malta. The duration of the mobility will be 14 days.
  2. Through 8 job shadowing visits to foreign organizations, the teaching staff's competence in implementing civic education for people with disabilities increased. The duration of the mobility was 10 days.
  3. Six adults with disabilities who participated in group mobility increased their key competencies. The duration of mobility was 10 days.

Language courses

The classes were held in small groups. An experienced instructor provided clear and constructive feedback, helping to improve skills. In addition, the Maltese environment created ideal conditions for learning through the practical application of the language in everyday situations.

The acquired skills and abilities are helpful for further work at the Eudajmonia Foundation. Thanks to the knowledge of English, employees will be more active in international cooperation, use good practices applied in other countries, and thus better support the people they support.

In conclusion, the stay in Malta not only improved my language skills but also provided a comprehensive experience combining learning and practice. Thanks to this course, I gained more confidence in my communication skills and the ability to use English fluently in various contexts.

In their free time, getting to know Malta, interacting with local residents, and engaging in meetings with other course participants allowed the participants not only to broaden their language knowledge but also to better understand cultural differences and language nuances. Exchanging experiences with people from different countries was extremely inspiring and motivating.

Job shadowing

The teaching staff went on a two-week job shadowing mobility for the Greek NGO PLOES and the Spanish NGO Support Girona.

The aim of the mobility was to gain competence, knowledge, and skills in implementing civic education, especially in terms of environmental attitudes and supported decision-making.

Every day, the participants observed the work of specialists supporting people with disabilities in a Greek and Spanish non-governmental organization and participated in activities prepared by the host organization.

Thanks to the stay, they:

  • Learned about existing good practices in civic education for adults with disabilities in the areas of environmental awareness and supported decision-making;
  • gained knowledge about practical tools and strategies for increasing the participation of people with disabilities in civic education;
  • learned about an educational program for professionals with an innovative Augmented Reality application aimed at raising awareness and promoting positive environmental behaviors of their beneficiaries;
  • improved pedagogical skills and teaching methods through observation;
  • acquired skills for working in an international team;
  • acquired skills for independent functioning in a foreign country;
  • established international contacts, breaking down cultural barriers;
  • familiarized themselves with current trends in the profession;
  • strengthened their self-confidence and relationships;
  • increased their knowledge of how NGOs function in Greece in non-vocational adult education.

Group mobility for Eudajmonia Foundation beneficiaries

A two-week Erasmus+ group mobility program to the Greek NGO PLOES and the Spanish NGO Support Girona.

The participants took part in educational activities. The stay increased their knowledge about the functioning of NGOs in Greece and Spain in non-formal adult education, especially in terms of pro-environmental attitudes, supported decision-making, self-reliance, and independent living.

The mobility program helped participants develop self-service skills as well as personal, social, civic, and learning skills. They deepened their key competencies by participating in workshops, classes, and other activities organized by the host organization.

The mobility program increased in:

  • the ability to cooperate with people of other nationalities in culturally diverse environments;
  • the ability to adapt to a new environment;
  • understanding of human rights and recognizing human rights violations in specific situations;
  • Implementation of civic education for adults with disabilities in environmental awareness, self-reliance and independent living.
