How to get a European certification that recognizes your trainer competences ?

2 minutes reading time

Trainer is a non-regulated profession in Europe and everybody can start an activity as trainer. Trainers exists in each European country. They use the same competences during their day-to-day activities. Some of them are more competent than others for different reasons. How can they prove it easily?

During 2014-2016, an ERASMUS+ project, CERTI4TRAIN developed an ISO (International Standardisation Organization) 17024 compliant European certification scheme for trainer. By respecting this international standard's requirements, the project partners wanted to ensure that the certification process could be operated in a consistent, comparable and reliable manner, whatever the country, whatever the certification body. It was the only way to promote, at a European level, training consumers and public confidence in the capabilities and competence of the certified trainers.

EU EFCoCert 1000 is the European certification for trainer issued from the CERTI4TRAIN project. It allows to recognize and validate trainers’ competences at a European level, ensuring a transparency of their competences and facilitating their mobility in Europe. EFCoCert Foundation is a Swiss organisation that maintains and exploits the trainer certification scheme. EdelCert & Inspectorat is a Swiss accredited certification body that certifies trainers using EU EFCoCert 1000.
