EU-READ&ART The first European digital library of book trailers and adults creative expressions.

EU-READ&ART is a 2 year project created by a partnership of 7 organizations representing 6 countries that face challenges teaching and training low-skilled adult learners in basic literacy, languages, and digital competencies. The project was born in the framework of Cooperation partnerships in adult education, KA200-ADU, financed by the Erasmus+ programme, aiming to address the high level of demotivation, isolation, and unemployment that results from functional illiteracy and lack of digital skills among adult learners, through a varied use of digital storytelling, creative expression and the creation of book trailers.
The initiative encourages reading and creative expression as powerful tools for personal and social development, being a joyful, colorful and attractive project for adult learners and for their educators to create upskilling pathways, improving accessibility and increasing take-up of adult education and Life long learning benefits.
The cooperation started in November 2021, and more than 540 book trailers (500 was the initial goal) have already been uploaded and many more will be added by the end of the project, in November 2023, to the main Project Result, a platform that was born from the ambitious goal to create “The first European digital library of book trailers and adults creative expressions.
The interactive platform https://europeanbooktrailers.eu/ was designed in an eye-catching way that promotes users’ engagement, and showcases the diversity and beauty of European literature in the form of book trailers, supported by the realization of important and instructive Learning Mobilities, with educators in the role of "Readers Team Leaders", in order to bring culture and creative expressions to more adult learners and citizens. Besides being trained to create booktrailers and to be multiplier in their contexts, adult educators involved around Europe were also trained on EU topics and methods for conducting "Reading labs" aimed at developing reading, writing, and creative expression skills.
The leading organization of the project is Ignalina District Public library, from LITHUANIA, experienced in involving a network of local libraries and creative staff made of librarians, educators, senior adult learners and volunteer. JUMP Association from ITALY, international training provider with expertise also in the digital communication field, is the partner responsible of the implementation of the platform and contributing in leading the training processes, collaborating with partners from Slovenia, France, Germany, Greece.
The project also supports new authors to be discovered and read, creates concrete small networks at the local level between partners, and even public libraries, and gives opportunities that support the team working in adult education. The initiative has huge potential for further development due to its innovative project structure and methodology. It focuses on recovering the fundamental basic skill of literacy, as recommended by the European Council for Lifelong Learning, and introduces a new method that fosters a sense of community among participants, connecting them to a network of "Creative Minds" at the EU level. The intellectual output produced by the project has limitless possibilities, making it an exciting prospect for future plans.
So far, people from more than 20 European countries have been involved and trained about the EU-READ&ART Method, including a series of initiatives developed to involve a wider public through public reading labs and workshops on book trailers creation in connection with 10 new international associated partners.
Online training materials are available on the project platform for all those who are interested to become book trailer creators and adult organizaionts are invited to contact the project team for cooperation as associated partner.
