Short biography

My name is Dimitrios Zervas, I am 33 years old and I am working as a project manager in various EU Projects. Participating in adult learning programs has connected me with a diverse group of people, enriching my social interactions and community involvement. Moreover, for the last 5 years, Ι have been working as an artist educator in Greece and Ι have been judging national dance competitions- DIMITRA EDUCATION & CONSULTING, Greece

My Story of Empowerment

My adult learning experience has greatly enhanced my sense of wellbeing and fulfilment. It has given me valuable skills, increased my confidence and opened up new professional opportunities. I was privileged to be one of the artists who participated in the EU project Creative Agora in 2023. Creative Agora was a project that focused on participatory arts and specifically on the role of artists as educators. 

The idea of the project was to bring together a community of practice of participatory artist educators who would explore 3 main themes: 

1. internationalisation (how artists work internationally)
2. health and wellbeing and
3. the social impact of participatory arts. 

My story illustrates the transformative power of adult learning and its impact on personal growth and social progress. Adult learning has changed my life by fostering a growth mindset and enabling me to adapt to new challenges. It has given me the tools to pursue new career paths and hobbies, broadened my perspective and improved my problem-solving skills. This continuing education has made me more resilient and able to achieve my goals, contributing to a more satisfying and dynamic life. 

Adult learning empowers not only artists, but also individuals by providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to achieve personal and professional goals. It promotes self-confidence, independence and critical thinking. 

In addition, the empowerment of individuals through adult education contributes to societal development by creating a more educated and skilled population.
