digiTED - Promoting Digitalisation Among Teacher Education

We’re excited to share the outcomes of the digiTED Project – “Promoting the Digitalisation Among Teacher Educators in Europe”, an Erasmus+ initiative that ran from 2022 to 2025. This innovative project brought together a vibrant consortium of teacher education institutions from Sweden, Spain, Estonia, Ireland, and Germany, united by a shared goal: enhancing the digital competences of teacher educators across Europe.
At its core, digiTED focused on developing innovative strategies, resources, and professional development opportunities to empower teacher educators in their digital teaching practices. Key outputs of the project include:
A comprehensive CPD programme for the professional digital development of teacher educators
A dynamic Virtual Makerspace
A strategic framework for European digitalisation in teacher education
A multimodal catalogue of digital teaching practices
With an emphasis on virtual learning environments, immersive digital tools and approaches, and collaborative professional development, the digiTED project engaged educators from a wide range of disciplines. The initiative fostered hands-on experiences and transnational collaboration, which were instrumental in shaping sustainable solutions for digital education.
Throughout its journey, the project hosted Innovation Weeks, Multiplier Events, and created a wealth of digital resources — all aimed at making digital transformation practical and achievable in real-world teaching contexts.
🎧 Curious about how the participants experienced the innovation weeks? Check out our podcast series featuring highlights from the Innovation Weeks here.
As the project draws is now finished, we are proud to present a summary of our project here and to make all project results freely accessible to the broader education community.
We invite teacher educators, policymakers, and EdTech stakeholders to explore and benefit from these resources. Let’s continue to build a digitally empowered future for teacher education across Europe.
