Crisis Management in the 21st Century: READY4CRISIS Approach

Fires, floods, earthquakes, health and epidemiological emergencies, chemical and radiation hazards, terrorism, and other extraordinary events all require highly trained professionals in their respective fields. However, with ongoing climate change, natural disasters are becoming more frequent and severe, often triggering additional societal and geopolitical crises. As a result, the preparation, monitoring, and effective response to such crises demands a modern and comprehensive education of members of the security forces and integrated emergency services — including medics, police officers, and firefighters.
According to a 2020 UN report, the experience and training sufficient for crisis management 15 years ago are now outdated and inadequate.
The READY4CRISIS project aims to develop a set of digital educational materials tailored to the professional training needs of firefighters, paramedics, and members of emergency and security services in the 21st century. The project focuses on facilitating the exchange of knowledge and experience between European crisis management institutions and vocational schools or training centers responsible for educating the next generation of emergency responders and crisis managers.
As part of the project, we will create:
a comprehensive Guidebook for vocational teachers of relevant subjects,
a collection of Best Practice examples in managing emerging types of crises from across partner countries,
educational videos designed for students, and
an international digital platform for sharing learning and training materials across borders.
The project brings together 8 Partner Organisations from Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, and Greece, which provide their expertise in Vocational Education and Training, project management, and strive to create something meaningful and lasting.
Through this project, READY4CRISIS supports the modernization and innovation of crisis education in Europe — preparing professionals not only to respond to today’s challenges, but also to anticipate and manage the crises of tomorrow.
