As stated in the abstract The benefits and challenges of ChatGPT: An Overview is a paper written by Jianyang Deng and Yijia Lin which provides an overview of ChatGPT, a natural language processing system developed by Open AI. 

Firstly, it gives the definition of artificial intelligence and tracks its roots back to 1956 'when a group of scientists and mathematicians gathered at Dartmouth College to discuss the possibility of creating computers that could think like humans'. Then it focuses on and explains several types of AI such as machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing. It continues discussing the characteristics of ChatGPT, its advantages and disadvantages and the limits of its accuracy.

Finally, it summarises that ChatGPT is  a powerful NLP system that has several benefits such as increased efficiency, improved accuracy and cost savings but also some challenges such as security concerns and limited capabilities concluding that it is definitely a promising AI technology.
