BARRIER FREE LIVING CENTERS
It’s a care and rehabilitation centers where the individuals between the ages of 0-40 who cannot be cared for by their relatives, in need of care, and with physical and mental disabilities can continue their lives in Turkey.
These centers are affiliated to the Ministry of Family and Social Policies. The historical development of the Regulation on Care Centers of Official Institutions and Organizations for the Disabled Person in Need of Care, published in the Official Journal in 2006, has been the main legal basis of the Centers for Life without Disability.
The Department of Care Services, established under the General Directorate of Services for the Disabled and Elderly, establish in line with the decree law no. 633 of June 3, 2011, which determines the organization and duties of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, is responsible for creating, developing and implementing the care services offered to disabled individuals.
Barrier-Free Living Centers are in almost every city and district center create new living spaces for people. These new living spaces provide to improve the quality of person’s health, job opportunities, leisure time.
The opportunities offered at the Disabled Life Centers are as follows;
- Nourishment,
- Care,
- Protection,
- Cleaning,
- Physical Activities (athletics, swimming, basketball, volleybal, football etc.)
- Hobbies (painting, music etc.)
- Hand-crafted works (woodwork, agriculture works)
- Medical support
The activities carried out by each institution within its own means differ. The only thing the same is their purpose. To ensure the welfare of every disabled person in need of care. It enables individuals to be rehabilitated, to work in skill workshops for the continuity of their lives, to develop their skills, to work in different skills areas and to see that their inadequacy is not an obstacle.
Barrier-Free Living Centers are significant centers in terms of increasing the quality of life of individuals and integrating them with the society.
