With the development of technology, the television, internet and social media platforms that surround us all affect people in every aspect, from their lifestyles to ways of thinking.

At this point, each individual needs media literacy in order to make healthier thinking and decisions.

These needs in Turkey were taken into consideration by Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) in 2003.

As a result of many years of interviews, studies have been carried out for adults and children.

In the workshop in two groups with Ministry of National Education  ‘The Media Literacy Course Working Group’, and Media Literacy for Life Long Working Group which were held on 30 June - 01 July 2012,

‘The Media Literacy Course Working Group’ foresight to Media Literacy cours to be taught mainly used in all applications, media literacy. to be planned and carried out in practice (media analysis and production), media literacy education within lifelong learning, student teacher and family triangle,

It envisaged that relevant stakeholders (public institutions, NGOs, media organizations, unions, etc.) and teachers are involved in a participatory approach.

In 2015, students were offered elective media literacy classes in schools.

The RTÜK categorized media literacy as adults, parents, teachers, and media workers and conducted special studies in each category.

For media literacy for adults, studies has been presented to everybody.

In addition, the media literacy associations established by academicians also raise awareness among the public by conducting various studies for adults.
