Safe Climbing - digital and interactive study material!

Safe Climbing is an Erasmus+ project that aimed to increase safety for people that work with chainsaws and climbing in trees as well as produce quality study material for climbing courses. The countries involved in the project where Iceland, Denmark and Slovenia.

The project was accepted for an Erasmus grant in 2016. In last August the final conference as well as a work shop was hosted in Iceland as a final event for this great Erasmus project. The project Safe Climbing was also selected as the best Erasmus projects in Iceland, year 2019, and for promoting equal opportunities for participants.

One of the projects objectives was to incorporate distance education options into arboriculture courses and workplace learning. This would increase the chances for people that live remotely or have busy lives with work and family to finish courses with less time spent at school.

One of the products of this project is an e-book for arborist studies. The e-book is available for reading online for free (only need to register). The book is rich with illustrations, videos and pictures alongside the texts so it is very accessible for most people to read.

Distance education is the future as an increasing number of people seek education later in life after they have started a family. We need to be ready to greet them with education options that suit them.
