Teaching and Learning in Nature (for Educators)

This course helps educators use natural environments to create calm, meaningful and engaging learning experiences. It takes place in Latvia, where forests, coastal areas and natural landscapes offer a unique setting for learning in nature and stepping away from everyday routines.

The course focuses on wellbeing, observation and deep engagement with the environment rather than high-energy outdoor activities. Participants experience how nature supports focus, balance and inclusive learning, while also having time to slow down and reflect.

Participants will learn to:

– use natural environments as learning spaces

– design calm and reflective learning activities

– support focus, wellbeing and inclusion through nature

– apply sensory observation and nature journaling

– adapt activities for different educational contexts

Activities include:

– sensory observation in natural environments

– nature journaling and reflection exercises

– small-group work and discussion

– designing and testing learning activities

The course is delivered through:

– experiential learning

– outdoor activities

– collaborative group work

– guided reflection sessions

This course is ideal for:
