Digital Competences for Seniors - Adult Learners:

The DIGITALISE ME - Upgrading Older Adults’ Digital Competences to improve their social inclusion/development is an Erasmus+ Project (2019-1-PT01-KA204-060701) in Adult sector. The project is implemented by RUTIS in Portugal with the cooperation of the IRIS in the Poland, DomSpain in Spain, Consorzio Brianteo Villa Greppi in Italy, ADR Nord-Est in Romania and the Emphasys Centre in Cyprus.

DIGITALISE ME will aim for educators, mentors and other professionals who work with older adults to get acquainted with their learners’ specific needs and to be trained to implement a tailored course with specific content to improve their basic digital competences.

The project implementation began in January of 2019 and ends by November 2021. The main results of the project are:

  • National Report prepared by each partner in total of 6 countries including questionnaires and interviews to senior citizens - adult learners in each country to identify their needs.
  • Development of the competences framework baseed on participants needs. It consists of 6 modules (Information & Data Literacy, Communication & Collaboration, Digital Content Creation, Safety, Problem Solving, media Literacy).
  • Collection of online resources (Digital Living Basics pack) for each module in English and in national languages (Portuguese, Polish, Italian, Spanish, Romanian and Greek).
  • Development of the educational material which is the learning material for each module. Each partner prepared for one module educational material which includes a presentation for adult educators to be used in the implementation phase, lesson plans for the adult educators to be used for each educational material/module and also some additional assessment questions to test their knowlegde.
  • Development of the trainers' guidebook which consists some tips and instructions on how to train senior citizens - adult learners, andragogy and pedagogy.
  • The implementation phase (local piloting) was implemented in all partner countries with approximately 10 seniors per country where the educational material is tested with the main goal for senior citizens - adult learners to upgrade their digital competences

Emphasys Centre began operating in 1998 and currently operates as an «ICT Educational and Vocational Centre as well as a European Research Centre. The organisation closely cooperates with various organisations in Europe for the implementation of EU projects. Emphasys Centre is approved by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture as an Educational and Vocational Centre specialising in the field of ICT.
