STEP
STEP is a 16-month European project, launched on 1 September 2025, with the objective of supporting learners with disabilities in their transition from school to work by improving emotional well-being. The project focuses on the development of tools aimed at improving emotional well-being during this critical transition, as good emotional development is considered an important element in achieving successful outcomes.
In recent months, the STEP partners have been conducting research to better understand the factors influencing emotional well-being, helping to identify the aspects that will guide the next steps of the project.
In December, the STEP consortium held the Kick-off Meeting in Donostia, a key event to shape the project. The meeting allowed partners to share experiences, exchange ideas, and align objectives, laying the groundwork for the development of practical tools and guides for learners, job coaches, and companies.
Practical guides to be developed by STEP:
- A guide for job coaches – strategies to accompany learners in their transition to employment.
- A guide for companies and tutors – tools to foster inclusive workplaces and supportive learning environments.
- A guide for learners with disabilities – resources to help them navigate the transition from school to work with confidence.
Project partnership:
STEP is implemented through the collaboration of partners across Europe, each contributing expertise in social inclusion and labour market inclusion of people with disabilities:
- Gureak (Basque Country): Established in 1975 in San Sebastián, Gureak offers job opportunities that promote the social and labour inclusion of people with disabilities, designing individualised pathways adapted to each person’s needs and goals.
- Dafür (Austria): Founded in 2008 in Vorarlberg, Dafür focuses on labour market inclusion for people with disabilities and has been running the Youth Coaching service for 11 years.
- Astangu Vocational Rehabilitation Centre (Estonia): Astangu was founded in 1995 in Tallin, Estonia. Provides vocational education, pre-vocational training, and support services to people with disabilities, enabling them to find and retain employment and participate fully in society, including work-related and social rehabilitation services.
